Plum Creek, Homes for Sale in Kyle, Texas

If there’s one thing Texans like, it’s an excuse to get together and enjoy good food, good music and family-friendly fun. Residents of Plum Creek in Kyle, Texas only have to wait a couple more weeks for a great excuse; the Kyle Fair and Music Festival hits the city of Kyle Thursday, October 18th and runs through the Sunday, October 21st.

The 4-day event opens at the Thunderhill Raceway Thursday evening with a carnival, one of America’s favorite pastimes. Rides, games and favorite carnival foods will be enjoyed by attendees until Sunday evening. Tickets and wristbands can be purchased by visitors wishing to relive a few childhood memories or by even littler visitors making memories for the first time. Wristbands allow for unlimited rides and will be discounted on Thursday and Sunday.

Friday welcomes the competitive BBQ cook-off open to all who wish to throw their culinary skills into the ring. The competition is sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers Association (IBCA) and strictly adheres to the organization’s rules for such events. Categories include chili, chicken, brisket, ribs and cobbler. Prizes will be awarded Saturday evening.

The Kyle music festival also begins Friday and runs through Saturday evening. Headliners include Black and Fallon, Zach Edwards, The Tyler Brown Band, Backseat Molly, The Clay Wilson Band and John Slaughter Band. The festival’s free music performances begin Friday at 6 p.m. and ends Saturday at 12 noon.

The 5K Kyle-O-Meter will be held Sunday, October 21st at 8:30 a.m. Participants will follow the Wallace Middle School chip-timed track for the duration of their run. In conjunction with the 5K, a 26-mile bike race and a children’s 1K are also open to registrants. Registration and sponsorship forms can be found on the Kyle Fair and Music Festival website. Participants who register before October 5th are guaranteed a free t-shirt and race packet.
